Warded keys have been found in jewelry since at least the Ancient Roman era, when they were fashioned into rings and used to open small containers such as jewelry boxes.

Over the centuries key-shaped jewelry, especially in pendant form, has acquired the connotation of love, trust, knowledge, and mastery over one’s destiny. 

This piece was handcrafted from solid 14K gold, with a small sterling backplate supporting the peridot cabochon. Total length not including the chain link is just over 1”.
