Warded keys have been found in jewelry since at least the Ancient Roman era, when they were fashioned into rings and used to open small containers such as jewelry boxes.

Over the centuries key-shaped jewelry, especially in pendant form, has acquired the connotation of love, trust, knowledge, and mastery over one’s destiny. 

This hand carved piece is made from solid recycled 14K gold and measures about 11mm long (7/16 inch) not including the bail.
